Training Diary: 9th to 15th September

Monday 9th September: Strength and Core exercises + 60 min cycling

Repetitions of front side of Sir Samuel Griffith Drive

Felt great today but clearly awakened some different muscles during yesterday’s scrambling. I had some unusual tight spots along my inner thigh.

Tuesday 10th September: W/U exercises + 75 min

24min speed work + 20min barefoot

My legs had plenty of zip in today’s speed session but I still had that bit of tightness.

Wednesday 11th September: W/U exercises + 75 min

Up Lookout bike track-down Honeyeater track-along Under Construction trail -return along same route + 20min barefoot

Legs were almost back to normal during today’s run and felt great after a massage with Craig Smoothy.

Thursday 12th September: Strength and Core exercises + 60 min cycling

Repetitions of front side of Sir Samuel Griffith Drive

I always feel great after a massage and today was no exception!

Friday 13th September: W/U exercises + 75min

45min of tempo on Lookout bike track, Honeyeater track and Under Construction trail + 20min barefoot

For some reason my legs were a little bit heavy at the start of the session but felt better as I rolled along.

Saturday 14th September: W/U exercises + 2 hours

Up Lookout bike track-down Honeyeater track-up/down Under Construction trail – along Bellbird trail – return along same route + 20min barefoot

I took today particularly easy as that feeling of ‘heavy legs’ persisted from yesterday

15th September: W/U exercises + 1 hour

Picking up pace at the end – Up Lookout bike track-down Honeyeater track – return along same route + run home + 10min barefoot

Whatever it was that was bothering me the last two days had gone I felt great again.

Well and truly tapering now and starting to get to that stage where I just want the race to arrive! I spent most of the weekend using all the extra time I had from not running getting ahead on uni work to make up for next weekend. Not long now!

As always, my training program was created by Andy Dubois at Mile27 personal training.

I’ve been looking at “motivational pictures” for next weekend!
